  1. Trend Spotlight: Pastels

    Trend Spotlight: Pastels

When it comes to fashion trends for Spring/Summer, there is one particular look that is inspiring everyone, from the fashion magazines to the high street. Pastels. At last, those who create fashion and those that follow fashion can play with an exciting palette of pretty colours, leading to some very girly catwalk shows.

Pastels are just as popular in flip flops too. Gone are the clumpy boots of winter (yes, even when it’s pouring with rain!) and in are fun pastel colours, from heavenly macaroons to sweet sorbets, think fun in the sun with soft sweet pastel hues.

We're noticing that a lot of the pastel flip flops for this season are based around icy pink and very sky blue palettes. Not sure where to start with this particular trend? We’ve highlighted a few of our favourite finds for getting the pastel look.

  2. How To Recycle Your Old Flip Flops

How To Recycle Your Old Flip Flops

A lot of very well known flip flop brands from Brazil are well known for being very ecological in their manufacturing, with the obvious close ties to the rainforest many Brazilian flip flop companies have very well established recycling programs for both the flip flops and the chemicals used in production.

Flip flops and sandals from well known brands are built to last. But like most things, they still have a shelf life. So, what do you do with your flip flops when they’ve had their last trip to the beach? Actually, there are quite a few things you can do with an old pair...

    Shred ‘em

Did you know you can shred an old pair of flip flops? Maybe don’t use one of those mini paper shredders from your desk though. Once you’ve shredded your flip flops, you can use them as stuffing or packaging.

    Stack ‘em

Flip flops are the perfect thickness for placing under chair or table legs to avoid scratching, under appliances to stop them wobbling or vibrating (especially for washing machines or tumble

  3. Heels vs Flip Flops: Which Wins in the Summer Style Stakes

Heels vs Flip Flops: Which Wins in the Summer Style Stakes

Occasionally, high heels and flip flops tend to come in for a bit of a beating in the national press. It’s suggested that high heels can lead to back pain and foot pain, and flip flops can lead to blisters (well yes, probably, if you choose to walk miles in them. Most shoes would!).

The reality is, there are very few types of shoes that don’t lead to problems when worn for long distances or periods of time (and certain newspapers love to claim that anything and everything is harmful anyway). Run a marathon in a pair of trainers and you’ll still likely to get blisters, and badly-fitting boots can be tight and uncomfortable at the calf. All footwear has side effects if worn for longer periods of time than usual.

The key with most shoes is to make sure they’re comfortable and that you’re treating your feet well. Flip flops from established brands are designed to be as comfortable as possible, with spongy soles that support the foot and thongs that don’t irritate the feet. Some brands such

  4. Trend Spotlight: Floral patterned flip flops

Trend Spotlight: Floral patterned flip flops

With the current weather in the UK, it’s unsurprising that a lot of us are enjoying flip flops and summery dresses. We are still getting the odd day of overcast weather though, so there’s no need to pack away those jumpers yet! In fact, you might want to embrace some of those summer trends now.

Winding patterns that evolve and change around the flip flop

Patterns are big for spring/summer, and will continue into the autumn. Floral prints in particular are a trend to observe. Floral prints are those patterns that evolve, it's all about the winding patterns that change as they move around the flip flop rather than patterns that repeat themselves over and over.

The Havis Slim Organic Flip Flop is a great example with it's evolving coloured floral print on the sole those gold and brown tones will also continue to be fashion-friendly next season, so it’s two trends in one go.

Will you be trying a floral print this year? Take a look at the massive range of patterned prints flip flops available

  5. Boho Chic flip flop/sandals are this summer’s hot footwear for women

Boho Chic flip flop/sandals are this summer’s hot footwear for women

Greek is still chic where sandals are concerned this summer. With 2015 trends from Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, it's no surprise that gladiator style and strap sandals and flip flops are hot in 2015 - whether you're dressing up or down, they're versatile and come in various classic neutral colours that compliment a tan.

Many designers such as Chloé, Stella McCartney and Valentino have offered variations of the sandal including a more bohemian take with the lace-up versions. Havaianas and Ipanema have given us the high street version with the same great designs, just minus the price tag.

If you’re after some flip flops, one of the best colours for showing off that you’ve caught some rays is the metallic look which continues to be a favorite in 2015. Havaianas Freedom flip flop have adjustable straps that make them a better choice than a regular flip flop if you’re going to be doing a lot of walking and they’re also available in a beige and gold combination – though you might want

Latest Star Wars Style Update 2018

    Dark and Stormy

And all because Stormtroopers are people too…

So you're a Stormtrooper. You can admit it. Everyone’s got to work, right? In fact, you're there right now. You’re in the cantina aboard the Death Star. Darth Vader is threatening to kill someone with a tray. It's just another day at the office.

You've banked up two weeks of shore leave. Just a few more days until your lovely beach holiday on Tatooine.

But what are you going to wear on your feet? You need something that will match your uniform and arrive on time. But as usual you've left it too late. Vader hates surprise deliveries and may put a choke hold on the delivery driver. Your only option is to risk an encounter with the Hutts. Maybe you can trade a droid or two with one of the sand people. Mind you, last time you were there, they told you "these aren’t the droid we're looking for". You can't catch a break.

Then you hear about this amazing online store

What to Do With Flip Flops in Winter

The weather has turned. It’s the time of year when a pair of slippers seems more favourable than your thongs (Australian for flipflops) and to get any warmth you need to stoke the fire rather than lie in the sun.

    Winter sun

For any jammy ones with a bit of time and money to spare there are still some places in Europe with the heat on though. I’ve just got back from a toasty 33C in Gran Canaria, in November! It’s only a 4-hour flight from England and although it’s one of the Spanish islands it’s actually just off the coast of Africa and so benefits from their scorching temperatures. It was beautiful, balmy and the perfect opportunity to get my flip flops out again. I’m still on my trusty pink, spotty Slim Fresh Havaianas and Roxy Sevilla leathers for best. I’ve got my eye on these white Gizeh Birkenstocks though; I think they’d go nicely with the sun (or snow).

Apart from that, I spent most of November as a hermit inside – in London and the Midlands –

  8. Winter Sunshine, Skiing, Florida and Thailand

Winter Sunshine, Skiing, Florida and Thailand

Anyone had the chance to travel somewhere sunny this winter for their flip flop fix?

These last two months I’ve mostly been skiing – France, Austria, Italy and Germany – it’s been an incredible adventure and I’ve seen some beautiful vistas up there on the slopes. I’m kind of obsessed with mountains right now. You’d think I was a pro the amount of ski trips I’ve had, but sadly no, sometimes you just have to do things for the sheer pleasure rather than the fact you have any sort of skill.

Those ski boots have been an uncomfortable change from the usual flip flopping about. I’ve learned from experience that you really need to make sure your boots fit in the shop before you head out on the slopes. As in really stamp around and wear them in the shop for a bit. There was one day when my feet were so squashed into the boots up on the slope that I could barely ski down to change them. Not cool.

    The Sunshine State

I did get to Florida since my last update though, twice actually. Just like that you

  9. FlipFlopping Around Cuba, Bestival, Catalonia and Munich

FlipFlopping Around Cuba, Bestival, Catalonia and Munich

    Hello flip flop lovers!

My name’s Vicky, although most people know me as VickyFlipFlop. I’m a travel and festival blogge and am now your regular columnist here.

I love a good flip flop adventure so I thought I’d use my travels to give you a few new ideas for cool places to explore, and which flip flops to bring with you from the great selection on here.

    My September flip flops

After a disastrous flip flop month in August where I tripped over my broken suitcase in the middle of the road in Montreal and snapped my green and silver Havaiana slims I was happy to get some new ones this month. I’d had to get by on some New York Yankees specials from Walmart, which lasted all of about a week in the Adirondacks in New York before they looked like I’d had them all my life.

So this month I have mostly been wearing my Roxy Sevilla in Brown for smart and the Havaiana Slim Fresh in Black and Pink for daytime and all other activities.

    Cuba

It’s been a busy month for my flip flops, although they definitely
